^^^ this was one of about 12 different attempts to get this picture. and even then it’s a bit of a struggle.
in celebration of his royal highness george prince of cambridge (insert fangirl squeal), momma, sister and i drove for 40 minutes to get cupcakes at sprinkles. completely reasonable right? but let me tell you, it was completely and totally worth it. cupcakes and royal baby-ness. what more could a girl want?
^^^ love this girl and so glad to have her home from peru. such a babe.
i’ve heard nothing but good things about sprinkles cupcakes, but this was my first time experiencing them for myself. i tried a total of not one, not two, but three cupcakes. an excellent example of my lack of self control when it comes to sweet treats. i loved all of them, especially the salted caramel. try the salted caramel. really. but a word of advice, if you pull a megan and get three cupcakes, do not eat them all at once. you will regret it.
while i sat on my couch gorging myself on cupcakes, the royal baby could very well have been enjoying some milk in kensington palace. is anybody else giddy to the point of ridiculousness about this little boy? and the thought of will and kate as parents? it’s way too much fun. now all i need is for kate to start a blog about parenting the future king. you know you’d read it. i’ll admit my obsession with the royal family is reaching an unhealthy level. the other day i referred to queen elizabeth as “our queen.” at which point the friend i was out to dinner with looked at me like i was from a different planet. just further signs that i’m a brit at heart.
welcome to the world baby george. if i have any say in it i’ll be the royal nanny soon and we can hang out every day. deal?
so it’s national sibling day and despite the cliche-ness of this post, i just wanted to say how grateful i am for these little nuggets. my sibs and i are really close to each other, and despite the occasional spat here and there (who am i kidding, we never fight) we get along like peas in a pod. they’re some of my absolute best friends and we all have so much fun together.
also known as pie, em is as sweet as her nickname. she is always so thoughtful and generous and willing to lend a hand to someone in need. she is a hard worker and fiercely dedicated. she is a great listener when i need to talk and a great talker when i want to listen. she’s also strangely obsessed with babies? it’s great to have a sister so close to me in age. it’s like having a best friend by my side for eternity. everything is more fun when we’re together…disneyland trips, grocery store runs, even loading the dishwasher (maybe not that last one). point is, pie i love you and couldn’t ask for a better sister or friend.
this boy has caused me quite a few laughs and quite a few moments of embarrassment in my time. and weirdly enough i love that about him. as long as that embarrassing me phase stays in the past of course. he also is a real bright kid. i get so excited when he’s reading a book I recommended to him and we talk for hours about it. i love his thirst for knowledge and his desire to improve himself. he’s always telling me how he hates short books because he feels “cheated.” love that. nate is also about 8 feet taller than me, but he’ll always be my little brother. nate-potate, thanks for being a great brother. for making me laugh. for reading with me. for always talking with me about nerd stuff. for being awesome. i love you!
this kid is the sweetest boy you will ever meet in your life. he always knows just what to do to brighten my day and put a smile on my face. or make me cry from missing him so darn much. he is always so genuine and considerate of other people. i can’t believe that one person could be so concerned for other people’s welfare. he’s a real charmer, so when he’s older the ladies better watch out. he’s also insanely creative. always drawing and writing and singing. he’s the only sibling that i distinctly remember when he was a baby, and it’s crazy how fast he’s growing up. lukey, you always can make me smile. you are so talented and so kind. when i grow up, I want to be more like you. love you lots!
p.s. thanks to mom and dad for providing me with these amazing siblings. you guys are pretty cool too.
i apologize for my absence to all my avid readers (that’s you kelsey). but i’m back with tales of christmas break! let us begin…
you see that hipster man up there? that is big baker (a.k.a dad) complete with fake bangs. yes, i own fake bangs. a girl’s gotta look good. speaking of looking good, do you see my sibs? they are all pretty much models. us bakers are just irresistibly good looking. it’s a curse. speaking of a curse. my whole fam bam has been cursed with a recent obsession with cats. especially these little cuties. i am officially destined to be a crazy cat lady and the proud owner of that delightfully heinous teapot that i discovered at a local antique shop. speaking of antique shop… fine i’ll stop that. anyways, i got good use out of my disneyland pass for the last couple times for who knows how long. tears. i went with the lovely kelsey and laura and had a blast. if you ever want to hear walt disney’s opening speech or hear some fun facts about the castle we’re the gals to ask. some talkative employee’s gave us a quick disneyland history lesson and we are pros now. i went later in the week with mama and luke which was a blast. we decorated cookies (each cookie was a low price of six dollars! gotta love amusement park prices). i also had the pleasure of taking a picture with the country bears. one of them literally had his hand (paw?) in my armpit and is tickling me. creepy? yes. i am not exaggerating in the least when i say that i am colder here in “sunny” california than I ever have been in p-town. you can see mother dearest trying to warm herself up with my scarf. supposedly an efficient technique? i have been exercising my “home from college” sunday perks by joining my mom in nursery (dad joined in too) instead of going to sunday school/relief society. best choice i ever made. snack time, toys, and a bubble machine. those kids have it made. look forward to christmas break part two in the near future. try not to die of the suspense.
Yesterday and today two of my favorite people in the world had their birthdays!
Miss Emily Baker turned sixteen, and yes boys she is single. I can’t believe my little sis is all grown up! She can date, she can drive, and it’s too much for me to handle. She has been my best friend for the past sixteen years, and will be for the rest of forever. She is such an example to me with how thoughtful she always is. This girl is so dang talented it’s not fair. This blog would be a bajillion times better if I had her take pictures for me. She loves babies like I love Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, and will be the best mom ever (but not for a long long time. I can’t handle too much growing up). Pie, I love you and miss you!
Roommate Kate is now an adult which means she can do all sorts of exciting things now. Like…um…buying a snuggie from TV or going on Disney channel’s website without asking for parent permission! Exciting! Kate and I pretty much had an arranged friendship since birth. I think our parents have been plotting for us to be roommates since before we were born. I’m definitely not complaining though, because I got the better end of the deal. Kate’s a gem! I could not have asked for a better roommate. She has literally the most contagious laugh I’ve ever heard. I’m pretty sure when Kate thinks something is funny, the entire hall knows. She’s an angel and does nothing wrong ever. Sometimes I polish her halo when I’m wishing that I was as perfect as she is. On top of everything else, she’s hot too. Kate, thanks for putting up with me. I love you!
P.S. Yes, the title of this post is a reference to a primary song. I’m blaming it on currently living in Utah. Don’t judge.
